ASSORTED PICTURES AND STUFF

Dave laying down a track at Pampa Studio. Was this for "Oh My Lady"? These tapes culminated in the release of the only single the band put out. I think it was Brian who came up with the name Great Ape Records, but I am not sure.

Joe at the same session. Or maybe not, I don't recall egg cartons on the wall at Pampa. I do remember them here.

The studio on 11 mile in Royal Oak. The Ampex 2 track, Scully 4 track and the board. Altec Lansing mixers. Many a time I walked in and Ron was laying on his back under the beast tinkering. Not only were many great tracks laid down, by the band and by assorted groups of people, but it was the place to hang out. Even the Royal Oak Police thought so. They would park on the sidewalk right outside the front door at night while the band practiced. That is probably why there were never any breakins.

The building where all of the fun occured

Not too far from the infamous Blair House Resturant. Great cup of guba there.

Speaking of guba and jubra, this was Zips favorite place.

It took Brian almost three weeks to clean the walls of our room when he moved out. Glad I moved out first.
There were some great pictures up there. Lots of Jimi and the Doors, as well as many many others.
I think we were the only people to use a Sunn 2X15 bottom for our audio system. Couldn't put the record player on the cabinet because it would shake off. My sister used to complain that all she could hear was the bass. I do fondly remember many a psychodelic night falling into the wallpaper next to my bed or watching the paisley swirl.
How did it do that? Oh yeah, now I know.

After the Job & Shortz Hat
You know, I can't drink Strohs at all now, but it did make a great hat.
Now that I look back on it, damn, we did a great job of packing that truck. Of course, it was much more fun to have Captain Milk and Joe drive it while we all surfed in the back.
Some memorable nights spent surfing..

But this was by far our favorite place.

Who can forget the record, or should I say who can remember. I believe that it was something like 17 coney's, four fries, four drinks and a bowl of chili. Might have even had a piece of pie in there. It may have been more. Ah, the days of 45 cent coneys. I personally ate 11 or 12 and a couple of fries at one sitting. Think back boys, what was the record. Speaking of records, what was the spigoteering record. I think the same guy held both, you know who you are.

An attempt to be a company instead of a band. I'm glad they appreciated our business.

Looks like I couldn't get back far enough to get the whole wall in. Who painted that?

Historical shots from Dave and a couple of others.
